Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue receives our 501(c)3, needs volunteers!

Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue Inc, a south Jersey small animal shelter, dedicated to helping rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters and other small & furry animals is in need of volunteers. We received our 501(c)3 tax exempt status on July 14th, retroactive to November 11th, 2010 – so all donations made to the shelter are fully tax deductible. As we are moving over to new shelter management software, and re-vamping our book keeping system (from the stone age, a paper ledger, lol!) – we are also gearing up for our grand re-opening later this summer.

Newsletters are being mailed with invitations, and we are opening our organization to memberships: Members will have access to our new member’s only website, with blogs, photos, videos and more. Members will be able to vote and participate in special projects and activities, and be eligible for free drawings and raffles, gifts and more!

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Junior Volunteers

Volunteers 10-16 with parent or guardian present (any family member over the age of 18) may volunteer one or more days per week, or as little as once a month. We will be holding a volunteer training class on FRIDAY AUGUST 5th at 6pm for JUNIOR volunteers. Please bring a friend!

Volunteer Positions Available:

    Animal Care Attendants

(2-3 hour shifts, as often as 3 days per week, or as little as once per month) – Schedule is very flexible. Animal care attendants are responsible for feeding, watering & giving hay & fresh produce to the animals, sanitizing cages & play areas, petting & socializing the animals, changing litter-pans, vacuuming and sweeping the living areas and other animal-care related tasks. No experience is necessary, we will happily train you.

    Online Crew:

We are currently seeking online volunteers who can meet at the rescue the first FRIDAY evening of every month at 6pm. We are looking to hire a volunteer to run our online blog, a volunteer to handle kennel organization & our petfinder account, as well as a photographer (no experience necessary). On FIRST FRIDAY, we will update kennel cards, organize and add any new animals to our online database, select a “pet of the month”. Volunteers must be 15 & up, and have some experience with computer use. They must have internet access at home, although much of the work can be done at the shelter. If you’re interested in joining our FIRST FRIDAY crew, please let me know ASAP so you can attend our first meeting, Friday August 5th from 6-8pm.

    Volunteer Leader(s) Needed:

We are also currently seeking veterinary and vet tech students, or other professionals in the animal-care industry (dog groomers, those with experience volunteering at other animal shelters, or working in a pet store, pet supply store, kennel, training facility, vet hospital, boarding & grooming, etc.)

We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator, who has approximately 20 hours a week to dedicate to assisting our shelter with coordination of our volunteer program. This person will be needed at the shelter for approximately 5-10 hours a week, as well as online and at home making phone calls.

    Follow Up Telephone Volunteer

We also need a Follow-Up Coordinator, who will follow-up with all of our adoptive families, checking on the animals who have gone home, referring those with questions to our hotline, and taking notes. This person must be comfortable on the phone. NO SOLICITING or TELEMARKETING will be done – this is purely contact with our adoptive families to help trouble-shoot, answer questions and keep our rescue aware of how rabbits who have been adopted are now doing in their new homes.

    Foster Program Director

We’re looking for a Foster Home Director, who need to be available 2-4 hours per month, as well as a few hours a month for phone calls, monitoring our animals in foster care, keeping a binder organized of all the animals who are in foster care, and logging all loaned equipment to foster families. This person may do some foster outreach, helping to seek new foster homes, including Craig’s List and Petfinder postings, newspaper ads, etc at the cost of the rescue.

If you’re interested in any positions with our ALL VOLUNTEER non-profit group, we would be VERY grateful.

For all new volunteers, our first meeting will be FRIDAY AUGUST 5th at 4pm, Junior Volunteers will be asked to arrive at 6pm.

Please contact the shelter via telephone at 856 210 6028 or at LittleMiraclesRR@aol.com if you plan to attend!
